“Alexa, tell me about AWS Day Naples”

The AWSome day in Naples organized by VMEngine was a success. Not only because there were about 350 participants including engineering and computer science students from the Federico II University of Naples, freelancers from all over southern Italy, web agencies, developers and entrepreneurs from the South. But also and above all because the Neapolitan event was the most attended in Italy.

On 7 November, in fact, Naples was transformed into the epicentre of technology and innovation in Italy, demonstrating competence and a desire for redemption. It was a one-day full-dive into the main services offered by Amazon Web Services: computational power, storage, databases and networking.

Intense morning sessions that delved into the workings of the AWS global architecture, the AWS Well-Architected framework, security, pricing. From 14.00 to 16.00 the sessions curated by VMEngine touched on the themes of the elasticity of container development by exploiting the potential of products such as ECS and Fargate, the NoSQL database in the era of Web Apps and the AWS Provider of IoT & Industrial IoT Solutions.

Among the guests of the day were Alessandro Ponzo, senior solutions architect at Amazon Web Services, Massimo Marchetti and the marketing staff of AWS.

An absolute novelty was the presence of a desk with Gaetano Ursomanno, Amazon Alexa developer to understand how to connect the development of alexa skills with AWS services. Finally, the draw for the Alexa Echo Show 5 offered by VMEngine… And it was she who decided the winner.

“Ten years ago ,” says Fabio Cecaro, CEO of VMEngine, “I began my journey of evangelization and many times I asked myself if the path I was taking was the right one. Here, looking at those passionate and amused guys, I was filled with pride and I realized that the path was the right one, even if risky and sometimes unpopular. We will continue to carry out formation and evangelization in the area,” Cecaro concluded, “also thanks to the help of the Federico II University and the AWS User Group.”
